The richest country in the world won't give much away

So the UAE is struggling to donate money to Pakistan, during the holy month of Ramadan, which is the Muslim period to think of others and give donations freely!

The UK has collected in donations at least 6 times as much, as an act of humanity.
Bearing in mind the oil revenues and free flowing US Dollars to the UAE, this is incredulously small change.
On the radio today the charity collecting has said it is disappointing!

So what is so forgiving and benevolent in Ramadan???

An end of an era approaching

5 days left of my time in Abu Dhabi.
It's been a good time.
My main aim is to finish phase 1A of our project and leave feeling I have contributed to a project that will take at least another year.
However, trying to get local people to be motivated and involved, as well as learning a system, has been the biggest challenge. So now it's time to take control by taking control!!!

GCSE results at William de Ferrers school

My daughter passed 10 out of 11 GCSE's.
However, what upsets me is that her better subject Art she got a C.
Why am I upset.
1. She expected to get better
2. The teacher lost some of her work!

This is the second time that work has been lost by incompetent teachers, when there is no recourse.
The first time was for PE and I sent a letter and highlighted the fact that I had seen the work and obviously kept it stored on my computer. All of a sudden it was found by the teacher!!
I want to go up there and kick the shit out of the bitch who has given my daughter a hard time all term in ART although she gets brilliant comments from all the other teachers.
Obviously this teacher has a problem.
However, my daughter is now giving up Art because of it.
These idiots and has been's, need weeding out and thrown out of the system.
I always thought school was based on ability and not personalities!!!
Anyway, I can't say anything because my daughter says it makes matters worse. So not only are they bloody idiots they are vindictive as well!!!

Beginning of the end for UAE

A number of things that spring up suddenly show that the UAE is beginning to crumble:

• Hundreds of thousands of Apartments empty and landlords won't bring their rent down much.
• 85% of residents are in debt at an average of AED500,000 ( STG 86,000) even low paid workers. However, only 3% of Emeratis are in debt ( yeah right!).
• Emeratis who own new buildings don't have enough money to maintain them so cannot rent them out and yet won't drop the rents!
• 15,000 apartments in Abu Dhabi about to come onto the market, but they are not being maintained and there are no roads to them finished.
• Westerners are being arrested for things 2 years ago would not have been ever thought of.
• This week 3 Emerati's have been proven to have kicked a husband and 7 mth pregnant wife, because they wanted to have their seats at a restaurant and the Canadian couple were eating and refused. The Wife has permanent facial disfigurement.
• A new court for drugs ( which are banned here) has jailed a police officer for selling several kilos of the stuff.
• Dubai has announced they want to build an air conditioned skywalk for people to walk again. This is in a city that is bankrupt and cannot pay it's bills. So which idiot will build it?
• Sharjah doesn't have continuous electricity and has just raised it's electrical charges " for the sake of the people!"

Although events are not often happening they are increasing and with the Credit Crunch hitting the locals we can expect more episodes and comments about foreigners being in their country.

I think this is where the bubble bursts.
The government here needs to change attitudes and to start by at least halving rents to get buildings occupied and also to create a new business environment to attract businesses like a corporate tax break or something

Men's domain

On the radio here today the female presenter said that as part of her friends wedding arrangements the bride has ALLOWED the groom to name the tables. Apparently this is the new thing that all tables at a wedding breakfast are names in some way. Now her friend (guy) is a Portsmouth fan and is naming the tables by players.

It struck me that this is most probably the ONLY thing he will do in the arrangements.
Men don't get much say in these parties, so i think it's a bloody cheek to say how good it is for her to allow this!!!

Then of course this brings to mind the home.
How much of a house is it that men actually have any say?
We mainly pay for the home or at least half and the bills, but have very little say. Unless it's the shed or garage or any out building. Why is this you may ask yourself?
1. They are away from the main home
2. It could rain between the buildings and the woman could get wet
3. Out buildings have spiders and webs.
4. They are dirty

So if you are like me, I have built an office in the garden ( 10x14 feet ) had satellite and stereo put in and a nice extra large bean bag. My home from Home and the missus doesn't come very often. Try it!

Easy Day

Lazy day today.
Went to Dubai yesterday and met a couple of people and spent most of the day with my colleague.

Today got up late at 8.30am and been packing and ironing, listening to the radio and reading ' Tiger Hills'.

Linda Burnett, 23, a resident of San Diego, was visiting her in-laws

both hands behind the back of her head. He became concerned and walked

bread dough on the back of her head. A Pillsbury biscuit canister had

exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded like a

gunshot, and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head. When

she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and

thought it was her brains. She initially passed out, but quickly

recovered.

Then we met with another mate at the Ritz-Carlton for afternoon tea.

Clearly, this European woman feels threatened by such strong competition. I fear she will end up with a caring, fat, ugly, poor man. But, it will be love.

A reply to my European vs Asian women article from a European lady -I rest my case!!!

Its fine to have someone who loves you as your wife and if she's asian and a bit younger then it shouldn't matter. However men are simple, basic and sometimes very stupid individuals. Some women asian and eastern european women target men specifically for the financial gain , passport, family, security back home and whatever else they can get. I've met women like this whilst living in dubai so I am basing this on what I've seen. Anyway you men see a hot lady taking an interest and fall for it. Idiots!


European women sometimes go for men who can provide or have a good job or good prospects etc but not always. Ask an english, spanish or german woman if shed like to meet a man for his passport or for his ability to give her so much money she can help her family back home and she will look at you like your speaking riddles or you've lost the plot. Fact, why would we need a passport out of a 1st world country?! Fact why would we need our families to be paid for when we live in a 1st world country!? We don't need it and don't look for it. So if an european women falls for you, its probably love or lust and it will not be based on your passport that you hold or the offer of paying for my families future as in my mum, dad, family back home!! Usually what you see is what you get with aa european woman and our mentality is if you don't like it..... do one. Because we know that there's men out there who will like us for how we are and be glad we are not after a quick route through immigration to obtain a british passport!

Anyway if you men are stupid enough to fall for some asian or eastern block bit who towel drys you when you shower and think this is lovely, then let me ask you this. How manly do you feel knowing that everytime you touch her she feels sick inside? How do you feel that when you talk to her about your day at work she doesn't give a shit and is thinking how she can get some extra cash to send to her mum in thailand (I know towel dry him!) Having been in the Middle East for some time I have seen numerous older men with young Asian girls.
Sometimes I wonder why the men go for Asian girls especially when they look like mooses, but may or may not have good bodies.

Also, over the years I have studied European women and try to fathom out what they want.
Asian women it's simple - a better life, a husband who will treat them nice and of course some cash.
But this is hissed at by European women, or is it?

I once worked with a Spanish girl who was about 23 and a lovely girl. On a business trip over dinner I asked her what Spanish women thought and the types of men they married. Surprisingly, she said they went for older men, why? Because they have everything the girl wants i.e. House, Money etc. That would explain why there are so many women in black in Spain!

Anyway, back to original note.

European women and especially English are snotty, moody and a number feel they should be equal to men.

Asian women believe in their culture and that is the house and family are their business and also to look after the man.

Whether you call it sub-servient or not I have known an Asian girl to dry the man after a shower etc.
This is what they believe. Also I have noticed in the UAE that Asian women will walk arm in arm with their man and make sure people notice they are together.

I also, look at the girls from my home town. they are loud, alot of them think it's fun to have an enormous beer gut hanging over their trousers. Now this conjurs up a picture of flopping guts and trying to look sexy in underwear (Not).

In Europe girls will try to look nice, but again are a bit butch and there are RULES what they will do and what they won't do as a couple.

Some girls compete with men with their armpit and leg hair, which seems most enticing!!

Asian girls seem to try and look feminine and nice. They seem to know how to please their men and will most certainly look nice for the bedroom and nothing seems to be banned.

So from a man's point of view I am now wondering what is more appealing?

I am no picture, but do I know that there are millions of young women looking for an old git like me to please for a few years.

I wouldn't of course go astray, as I am not like that, but I can understand men who do now and let's face it, it suits both sides and as long as both are happy, then why not.
Even if it's short term, the man is happy and the girl is happy because they get presents and get looked after well for a short time.

Not sure where I was going with this, but I think you may get my drift.

A married womans point of view is that the man has to provide and when he doesn't then they look for someone who can. Now whether that is a short term fling, it's invariably with a younger man.This is because a woman needs to feel wanted. Not because she is necessarily sad or unhappy in her marriage, but she needs to feel attractive again and maybe several times. So a guy will show some attention or flirt and the women feels rejuvenated again.

A Man could have a fling with a younger girl or prostitute, but view it just as a sexual thing, but can still love his wife and will go home to his wife.

But lets take the 3 different stories here:
1. Both can be happy but people will sneer, particularly the family, even if the guy was a widower.
2. The Husband would be expected to take the wife back and if not will be expected to support her financially for her fling, which the courts support eventhought the guy has been wronged.
3. Oh my God apocolypse!! The guy gets screwed big time and is destitute

Blackberry's being banned in UAE from October

All communications are screened by the government here and because Blackberry have encryption they can't do this. So the answer is to ban it.
Now UAE is trying to sell itself as the centre of the universe for business and travelling, which means people that have Blackberry's when travelling ( guests to UAE and business people) won't be able to use them in the UAE. This seems a little inconvenient.

Now with one retail outlet claiming outrageously to sell 3000 units a week, I think there will be the inevitable compromise before 11/10/2010.

Extremely stressful weekend in UK

I arrived on Thursday morning in the UK.
Being with the family was nice.
However, things started going wrong yesterday (Saturday) evening when I walked out of my wife's friends BBQ at 12.30am.
My wife's friend is a bigot (wife agrees) who only has her opinion and shouts everyone else down.
Anyway she was sounding off about a family get together and how she didn't want to do it etc. Now bearing in mind some were there at the BBQ, they all kept their mouths shut.
I, however couldn't and suggested that perhaps there was another issue and that is family values. Perhaps other people thought it nice to do something that had family together just once a year.
At this point she started shouting (she is an alcoholic) and approached me on the fact that she knew more about family values and she knew more than me. This was about to launch on me never being at home with the family, but away working earning money.
I then got up and told my wife, that I would be in the car when she was ready.

This was the first and the second:

My wife explained that a nephew's new baby born looked like a Japanese person. My sister in law agreed and that was what they used to say about our nephew and they laughed about it.
I went to a family function today and asked how the jap baby was and I was slated by my sister in law.!!!She was upset! Why when she had been laughing with my wife about it?

I also went today, to explain to my sister why I am not going to her daughters wedding, due to my values. I hope I did this ok, as I wouldn't want to hurt my sister. My parents told me years ago that if the kids are not invited to a function, that they wouldn't go, so I have done the same for many years. Also, I find it very hypocritical to go to an invitation when those people haven't contacted you before, or even sent a card of any sort etc.

At this point I have now come to realize that I am socially inept and really shouldn't have any friends at all!
The few friends I do have usually understand me and don't get too upset at what I say, or do and I treasure their friendship immeasurably!
