Hostile environment

It has been some years since I was in such a hostile environment.

I arrived at Unicredit in Munich and was put in as a Project manager for a project that had been postponed.
I didn't want to be a Project Manager as I am a Senior Business Analyst.

Anyway, since March I have been trying to deliver the original project scope and last week in a meeting with the Italian owners, I find out that the scope has grown substantially and a new Project Plan has to be made by the end of this week. This will have to be without the usual questioning of the business.

Testing of what we have done has been extremely slow. I have a very brainy guy, but like most of these people his social skills are far less than mine and he borders on Aspergers syndrome, which seems to be backed by the constant tourettes like twitching he has.
Everything I say or write he doesn't understand and I have tot take a good couple of minutes explaining everything to him, at which point he always looks into the air.
Trying to get deadlines from him is a nightmare as he never knows how long something will take him.

I find out that any validation of calculations we have to produce, has to be made by Risk Control. My tester and myself met with the main guys a number of weeks ago to which he said ' we do know about your project, but no one has come to see us and we do not have authorisation to be involved, but yes we are the ones to validate everything!'
However, he cut the meeting short as he didn't have authorisation to talk to us.
Last week in a meeting he said that he is willing to help and it was agreed in the meeting with the Italians that we have a meeting and I provide an overview and explain the project and what he needs to do.
So I sent a meeting invitation to which he refused!
Since then I have been trying to get him to provide a test approach and timings. Again being another Asperger type person he has been refusing.

So yesterday I asked another egghead if he could help. This guy is a Financial Engineer and has been helping us a little in doing the testing by checking some results.
I asked if he could help me by suggesting how long it would take the other guy to test, as he knew him and how he works.
I then get an email back saying that he couldn't help and that I shouldn't use him for my deficiencies!
He said that the guy had delivered his approach in an email.
So I showed him the email and said if you can gather the approach from such a few comment then you had better do the Project plan.
He then came to see me and then said that documentation was poor (before me there was no documentation and I haven't issued any to him yet)  and that I shouldn't go around the bank trying to meet people when I don't understand the bank nor the people!!
As some of you know that is the precise role of my job.

So all in all I have to produce a Project Plan to the Bank of Italy with the business not willing to play ball.

I have requested a meeting with my Manager today to express my disgust.

Let"s hope that my interviews in London bring a result so I can leave these inbreds!
Another English guy here who is a very senior person agrees with my synopsis of inbreds!!

England ladies in World Cup show the same trait as the men

After scoring after about 18 minutes in Germany against Mexico, England being the favourites to win looked good.
Then a tiny girl from  Mexico let rip a 30 yard hopeful shot and the twizzle like goalie for England completed screwed up.
She had it covered but for some reason didn't put the hand to the ball.
It was unbelievable.
I am now wondering if there was any back handers involved.
After this England were lucky to get a draw.
So the same attitude in the women as the men!!

Cost of Traditional Church Weddings to go up 50%

Well as I have said to my Daughter.
Go away to the Caribbean, get married and have a good holiday or save for a house.
Why should you pay Stg 5,000-25,000 for a party to family who show no interest in you for say 10-20 years,
it's very hypocritical.

In my day you tended to visit family every week and stay in touch and now my family, don't send cards, don't reply to messages on Facebook even. Maybe they are telling me something, which backs my view and say ' Sod 'em '

Jack Warner resigns from FIFA

Now you can bet your bottom dollar that Jack Warner has been paid off by FIFA to resign and in return they have dropped all investigations into his back handers.
This also saves Blatter who said that there was no corruption In FIFA and any investigation would reveal this.
My work colleague who is from the Caribbean told me that Jack Warner is well known for corruption but he is also Mr Teflon!!

New Easyjet airport

Well it seems that Ryanair want to buy out Stansted and make it their main base.
Easyjet just announced flights from Southend.

So my thinking is that Ryaniar will put up charges to Easyjet to use Stansted as they don't want competition and then  Easyjet will say goodbye and make Southend it's main airport.

Makes sense! and only 20 minutes from me plus much needed jobs in Essex

Do woman victimise men?

Nick Freeman is only saying what the majority of people (including) women say in private. Why? because of the insults from feminists and do gooders!

This is only common sense.

Simple question for women. When you go out to a nightclub, why do you dress nice in a fetching dress? why do you use make up? why do you wear nice perfume?

This isn't to make you feel good it's to attract another person, whether same or opposite sex.

You know that if you wear revealing dresses or clothes, you are more likely to attract someone, correct?

So it stands to reason that by dressing provocatively and the more so, you are giving signals of the wrong kind.

This is just common sense.

If woman don't want to cause a problem and have a good time, then it has nothing to do with looking stunning showing a most of your breasts or legs. So dress accordingly and you can still have a good night and not feed any misunderstanding signals.

Just look at the animal world and what they do to attract opposite sex. They use colour or plumage or if an ape, swollen and red backsides etc. It's a fact of life.

So the law should ask who is exploiting who in situations?

And as Mr Freeman says no woman deserves to be raped.

Women who dress prevocatively victimise men, says Mr Loophole

Celebrity lawyer Nick Freeman has sparked anger after claiming that women can "victimise" men by dressing in a sexually provocative way.

The 54-year old solicitor, nicknamed Mr Loophole for his success in securing acquittals in motoring cases, said women who wear "racy" red underwear, skimpy tops and fishnet tights and giraffe-necked stilettos conveyed a message that they only had sex on their minds.

He accused those women who insisted they dressed for themselves and not men of lying and urged them to "take more responsibility" when choosing how they act and what to wear.

In a column in a local newspaper, Mr Freeman - whose clients have includedDavid Beckham, Sir Alex Ferguson,model Caprice and snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan - said: "As a red-blooded alpha male, let me state unequivocally that I believe how a woman dresses (and behaves in that dress) tells a man what's on her mind.

"I abhor rape and attacks on women and believe me, as a criminal defence lawyer I've been involved with plenty of cases where those who have been dressed in a perfectly conventional way were still victims of this heinous crime.

"I also strongly believe that Yes is Yes and No is No. But in the real world a woman who behaves or dresses in a sexually provocative way conveys a certain message. A message that ironically can victimise men.

"So ladies, when you say you dress for yourselves and not for us males, I don't believe you. It's time to take responsibility for how you act and
what you wear."

Lynn Costello, of Mothers Against Violence, said: "He's talking rubbish."

In his column the lawyer described as "lamentable" last Friday's Slut Walks across Britain in which women wore racy outfits in a protest against a Canadian police chief's warnings about schoolgirls who risk sexual assault by "dressing as sluts".

Mr Freeman told of his own experience as a law student when he ended up in bed with a fellow undergraduate only for her to say No to sex when she revealed that she had a boyfriend.

"I was astonished," said the father of two, who is reported to have split from his wife Stephanie due to his heavy workload. "But mustering every fibre of willpower, I leapt off the bed, pulled on my clothes and made my exit.

"Disappointed? Obviously. But more significantly I was disgusted to have been manipulated and yes victimised. However, both my tender legal training and moral code had blazed inside me. To have ignored her wishes would have been rape. End of career, end of future, end of everything

facebook losing users as predicted a few weeks ago

Facebook is said to have suffered a second successive slump in users in America and Britain, leading some to suggest people are tiring of the ubiquitous social media site.

Worldwide, user numbers are nearing 700 million, according to Inside Facebook , which tracks its popularity - but it also says Brits and North Americans are turning off in droves.

Facebook aims to attract one billion users - it currently has around 687 million - but has reportedly lost 100,000 British users overall in May.

Commentators think this is because Britons - and six million in America, who also closed their accounts last month - are suffering from 'Facebook fatigue'.

US user numbers slumped to 149.4 million in May, down from 155.2 million. 

In Canada there was a drop of about 1.5 million, and numbers also decreased in Russia and Norway.

It is the second month in a row that Facebook growth has stalled - the figures suggest that there could be a natural limit for the social networking site.

In the first half of the year executives announced that there were 30 million accounts in the UK - about half the population.

That number was an increase of about four million from last July and was the highest proportionally in Europe.

However, the fact that it now has 100,000 fewer British users than a month ago should be a concern for founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg .

There is speculation gathering that this could be due in part because the social networking site, which launched in 2004, has not recently added anything new to keep users entertained.

In addition, many have concerns about privacy. 

Last week, Facebook attempted to roll out a facial recognition system which caused an outcry.

However, it is picking up new users in developing countries like Brazil and Mexico, for example.

A bullish statement from the site said: "From time to time, we see stories about Facebook losing users in some regions.

"Some of these reports use data extracted from our advertising tool, which provides broad estimates on the reach of Facebook ads and isn't designed to be a source for tracking the overall growth of Facebook.

"We are very pleased with our growth and with the way people are engaged with Facebook.

"More than 50% of our active users log on to Facebook in any given day."

A man who tried to pay a bill with 2,500 pennies has been fined – who’s in the right?

When Jason West turned up in person to pay a bill he disputed, he ended up being landed with a fine. Why? Because he tried to pay it with 2,500 pennies.

West said he paid the charge - to Basin Clinic, Utah, USA - months ago, but failed to get the current bill revoked. He then calmly asked the teller: "Do you take cash?"

When told they did, West replied: "Lucky for me I happen to have it on me." He then poured 2,500 pennies on the counter. "I'm willing to wait if you want to count them so you can make sure you get every penny," he added.

But while he told local paper The Vernal Express that all this was done in a calm manner, and that all that resulted from it was giggles from other customers waiting, the clinic disagreed and called the police.

West ended up being cited for "disorderly conduct" and now faces a $140 fine — or 14,000 pennies.

"The pennies were strewn about the counter and the floor," said the police.  The clinic maintains it would have taken the money, but does "not tolerate pennies or any other objects being thrown at our employees", according to a statement.

West says he didn't throw anything, they spilled: "That's just the nature of pennies," he told the Vernal Express. "They're round."
