Oktober Bier Fest in Munich

Well we have had a week already! Yes 17th Sept until 3rd October. Funny Oktober Bier Fest.
For those who don't know, let me put the vision to your mind.
A huge park with Tents. Each tent holds 10-15,000 people with tables.
Most tables are booked by companies and about 30% are for non business holders.
Wenches serve beer in litre jugs and you can eat knuckle of pork till you are sick.
there are also Oompah bands.
3 million visitors to Munich during this time of year

It is like a fairy tale. For 3 weeks a year the year, it seesm that there is a full moon and strange things happen.
The Munchens laugh, they are friendly and they wear strange clothes.

Men = Short or knee length leather trousers with btaces and bibs on them, socks either ankle or knee length, checked shirts and tied scarves
around their necks and some wear a strange style of hat with a shaving brush attached to them! Young and old men  abound and are the Goblins.

Women= wear Snow White kind of dresses, with white pinafores. They wear extra small bras to show cleavage to a point of them nearly popping out of their tops.
Most look very feminine compared to the rest of the year except one this morning looking like a female version of Darth Vader. She had jet black hair, Black dress,
accompanied with high Doc Martin laced boots. Other from the other side!!
Women are dressed to throw some fairy dust around both young and not so young, to find a Goblin!

To cap it all, they wear this gear to the office!

I am told by a Dutch friend of mine who went 2 nights ago, that there was massive frolics and it seems the women throw caution to the wind. Pretty girls look at all kinds of men
and are friendly and I am told are up for a one night stand!

Anyway I am going next week. Well you have to once don't you!!

Also next week starts the Erotik Messe at the Olympia event hall. I guess that's a free for all?

I am superior !

These Krauts kill me!
I know that they are inbred in Munich, but they get annoyed if you either invade their space, or that they suddenly turn in front of you, without looking as if you should be telepathic!
This morning it's raining cats and dogs and this seems to confuse the hell out of them. Trains are cut short and you are bundled into the train like sardines, but still the looks with daggers is hilarious!
So as I walked down the platform a girl turns right in front of me and I nearly bump into her. I said 'sorry' as all Brits do, eventhough it's not our fault, and she looked at me with a severe face and a surprise.

So why am I superior?
Easy really:
1. I am polite
2. I have a sense of humour
3. I don't have to save a bed by the pool
4. I smile
5. I hold the door open for people following me
6. I wear deoderant
7. I don't wear leather shorts or a feathered hat
8. I come from a nation that won a war

Moving Roald Dahl's shed will cost Stg500,000?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/8760530/Do-it-yourself-outcry-over-Roald-Dahls-shed.html

I agree with listeners of the BBC4 programme that the family should fund this as 2 are millionaires. Not only that, why would it cost so much. For me to move a shed double the size would cost about Stg 1,500 and restoring some wood doesn't cost Stg 500,000. They are in cuckoo land really these people!

9/11 victims

Reading the Sunday Times magazine this morning, there was a long article of the victims of 9/11.
What was surprising is the way the Americans will not talk about the people who jumped. In fact they didn't jump at all as they didn't commit suicide, but were pushed by Flames, smoke etc.

It's hard to come by any facts, but there is one number which isn't confirmed as such. 104 people known to have fallen.
One Fireman said that it was like an egg bursting on the ground when they fell.
He obviously cannot get over it.
In the exhibition to be opened next year, this little known fact and pictures will be in a hidden corner of the building for those who want to see.
however, it is such a distressing tale, especially for the loved ones left behind.
One story in the magazine was about a guy who was at his 2nd day of his new job with Cantor Fitzgerald.
He had argued with his wife the night before, about something trivial I guess. In the morning a cursory goodbye and then never again! Very sad.

So far I have found it hard to read the whole article, which shows people at the window ledge and also falling.
However, an interesting article and the difficulty the interviewer had to get people to talk about it.
